Things to Know

It’s the most isolated capital city in the world, in a state that’s exceptionally sparsely populated, but Perth most definitely makes up for the fact that it’s so far away with loads of adventures and things to see. Whether you’re wandering around the Australian bush while in the heart of the CBD, cruising the Swan River or taking advantage of one of the most beautiful coastlines in the world, there’s something for everyone in the Western Australian capital.

Getting Around

Perth’s public transport system isn’t as well-connected as other major Australian cities, but what it does offer is free rides inside central Perth on FTZ-designated buses and free train trips within City West, Elizabeth Quay and Claisebrook with SmartRider. For a scenic journey, take the ferry that crosses between Elizabeth Quay and South Perth, or enjoy the bike-friendly trails along the Swan River and coastline.

Don’t Miss

The coast is dotted with idyllic beaches where white sand meets gorgeous turquoise water to enjoy during the summer. And Rottnest Island is a great opportunity to swim in picturesque bays, hike and take selfies with the famous quokkas.

The WA capital also has a host of fabulous dining options. Keep it casual (with perfect coffee) at the many cute cafes. Or take a short drive to the oldest wine region in Western Australia, Swan Valley to sample fruit, award-winning local produce and of course, the delectable wines.
